Terms and Conditions
01. Who can use the service
This project is for adults aged 18 or over who are involved in sport or exercise. Recreational, amateur, semi-professional, competitive, university and school-level participants aged 18+ can request a session. You do not need to be an elite athlete, belong to a club or have a diagnosis.
Support needs to fit the scope of the service and my training and competence.
02. The free service and trainee status
I’m Wing Kan Chan, a fourth-year Professional Doctorate trainee in Sport and Exercise Psychology. I describe myself as a trainee sport and exercise psychologist. I do not present myself as an HCPC-registered practitioner psychologist.
The service is a free, online, one-to-one session lasting approximately 50 minutes. I use a single-session therapy approach within sport and exercise psychology. It focuses on one main issue connected with your sport or exercise. It may draw on CBT-informed ideas and other sport psychology approaches. It is not advertised as treatment for psychiatric disorders or as an emergency service.
No payment details, hidden charge or purchase of another service are required for the free project session.
03. Single-session format and outcomes
We agree a focused issue and explore what may influence it. Where appropriate, we can practise a skill, review an experience or identify a practical next step. One session cannot cover every issue and there is no guaranteed outcome.
If you would like further support, you are welcome to book another session, subject to suitability and availability. You are under no obligation to book again.
04. Booking and confirmation
Request your appointment through the Cal.com booking page and provide your name, email and the preparation information requested. Book your appointment and complete the requested preparation at least 72 hours before the appointment, so I can review it before we meet. Follow the confirmation and joining instructions in your booking messages, and contact me if anything is unclear.
05. Cancellation and rescheduling
If you cannot attend or want to change the time, use the options in your booking messages where available, or email me. Please let me know so the appointment can be managed.
06. Availability and repeat bookings
Appointments depend on the availability shown on Cal.com. Further sessions may be available when appropriate and you want additional support. A further appointment is not guaranteed and you are under no obligation to book one.
07. Your choices about sharing information
Only share information you feel comfortable sharing and consider relevant to the session. A brief example or a question can be a useful starting point. You can ask why information is requested and discuss access or communication needs.
What you choose to share can affect how well I understand the situation. You remain involved in agreeing the session focus and deciding what you wish to try afterwards.
08. Using the Session Hub and uploading files
The KANNECT Session Hub at sessionhub.kannect.net is separate from this public website. After you receive access, it can contain appointment information, preparation, reflection, goals, follow-up tasks and relevant progress information.
Uploading videos, notes, logs, analytical data or other supporting material is optional. Share only relevant material you have permission to share. Avoid including unnecessary information about other people.
09. Confidentiality, supervision and safeguarding
I treat your session information confidentially within professional, safeguarding and legal limits. Confidentiality is not absolute. I may discuss relevant information in professional supervision.
The main limits concern a serious risk of self-harm or harm to someone else. I may also need to share information to meet safeguarding or legal duties. You can ask me about these limits before deciding what to share. My confidentiality information explains more.
10. Emergency and crisis limitations
KANNECT is not an emergency mental health service. Do not wait for a session, a Hub response or a reply to an email if you need urgent support.
For immediate danger, contact emergency services. In the UK, contact NHS 111, your GP or an appropriate crisis support service for urgent support. Outside the UK, use local urgent support services.
11. Online meeting requirements and interruptions
All sessions take place online. You will need an internet connection and a device that supports the online meeting. Choose a space where you can speak comfortably, with privacy where possible. Tell me about access or communication needs before the appointment where you can.
If a connection problem interrupts the meeting, use the joining information to try to reconnect or contact me by email.
I do not record meetings as standard. If you would like a recording for your personal use, please request it so we can discuss and agree it beforehand. I will not record a meeting without your explicit permission.
12. Appropriate behaviour and ending a session
Sessions need to be respectful and appropriate for the agreed work. I may need to decline, pause or end a session if the issue falls outside the service’s scope or my competence, or if safety or inappropriate behaviour prevents the session from continuing.
13. Data protection and privacy information
This public site directs bookings to Cal.com and clients to the separate Session Hub. My privacy and confidentiality information explains how information is handled and the limits of confidentiality.
14. Changes to the project
The project, available appointments and supporting material may change. Check the current project information when making a booking.
15. Contact and concerns
For a project question, access need, booking issue or concern, email me at kannect.psychology@gmail.com. Email and the Session Hub are not emergency contact routes.
