How does booking work, and what is the catch?
A look at booking, preparation, confidentiality and what free really means.
Sound familiar?
Choose something you recognise. See how we might explore it together.
“One mistake, and I stop trusting myself.”
Look at a recent example, notice what happens to your attention and self-talk, and identify evidence of what you do well.
A believable confidence cue to test in your next training session.
An illustration, not a promised outcome. We agree the focus together.
Bring one thing.
Let’s work with it.
One main issue. Around 50 minutes. Fully online.
The TV image.
A conversation on a sofa.
We talk online.
One issue, a sporting dilemma or an independent perspective.
You try it in sport.
Notice a pattern, practise a skill or collect observations.
Take a useful next step.
A brief log, a different perspective or something practical to test.
We agree what is manageable. Sharing videos, logs or other material is optional.
No commitment to further sessions. Useful changes can take practice, and outcomes vary.
Know what to expect.

Select an available time on Cal.com, add your name and email, and answer a short preparation form. Check your booking messages for confirmation and meeting details.
- Confirm you are aged 18 or over.
- Tell me about your sport or exercise and current involvement.
- Share the main issue and what would make the session useful.
What does the preparation form ask?
Your sport or exercise, level of involvement, team or organisation, what you would like support with and a recent example. It also asks what would make the session useful and whether wellbeing, injury, access or communication needs could help me prepare.
Share what feels relevant and comfortable. You can ask about anything you are unsure about.

A sporting background.
A practical conversation.
Hi, I’m Kan. I’m a fourth-year Professional Doctorate trainee in Sport and Exercise Psychology.
I spent time in a football academy in Hong Kong, so I know how much sport can ask of you. I understand the pull between training, competition, study and life outside sport, and how difficult those decisions can feel.
My applied experience includes university sport, competition environments and individual support. I’m offering this free project so you can talk through your experience with someone who understands sport and can offer an independent perspective.

Let’s pop
a few myths.
Select a bubble. Pop the belief and reveal what a free single session with me can involve.
You can start with a question.
You don’t need to know exactly what sport psychology involves before getting in touch. Select a myth to explore a different perspective.
A first conversation can have a practical focus.
Book Your Free SessionNotice the thought.
Return to the shot.
Tap a thought to explore another perspective. Then aim and take a shot.
Use Tab to move between thoughts, then Enter or Space to reframe one. Motion pauses while a thought has focus.
Select a thought on the court to explore another way to respond.
Review your reframes
What to notice
Notice the thought, try a perspective you can believe, then return to the next action. Your aim still determines this shot.
The boxes disappear here to reveal the court. In real life, a thought may remain: you can notice it, consider a useful perspective and return to the task. Reframing does not guarantee a basket.
Before
you book.
Some practical answers so you know what you’re choosing.
Ask me a questionIs it really free?
Yes. This project offers a free session, with no hidden charge, no credit card and no requirement to buy another service. There is no pressure to continue afterwards.
Who is this for?
Adults aged 18 or over involved in sport or exercise at any level, including recreational, amateur, semi-professional, competitive and university or school sport. You can also bring a question about returning after injury or getting back into exercise. Availability and suitability apply.
Do I need to be an athlete?
No. You don’t need to identify as an athlete, compete or belong to a team. Exercising for enjoyment, consistency or personal performance is enough of a starting point.
Can I book if I only exercise recreationally?
Yes, if you are 18 or over. Motivation, confidence, routines, enjoyment and returning to exercise are all topics we can explore.
What happens during the session?
We meet online for approximately 50 minutes and agree one main focus. We explore your situation, consider what influences it and, where appropriate, practise a skill or agree a practical next step. The approach depends on your needs and the scope of the service.
What happens before the session?
Please book and provide your preparation at least 72 hours before the appointment so I can review it. I may provide reflection questions, a log or another activity through the Session Hub. You can also choose to share relevant material from training, competition or exercise.
What is the Session Hub?
The KANNECT Session Hub is the client portal at sessionhub.kannect.net. After you receive access, it can contain your appointment, preparation, follow-up tasks, goals and relevant progress information. It is separate from this public website.
Do I have to upload anything?
No. Files such as videos, notes, logs and training information are optional. Only share material that feels relevant and comfortable, and that you have permission to share. You can discuss access or communication needs with me.
Can I book another session?
You are welcome to book another session if you need further support. Each session can focus on what matters most at that time, subject to suitability and availability. There is no obligation to continue.
Is this therapy?
I use a single-session therapy approach within focused sport and exercise psychology support. I’m a trainee sport and exercise psychologist. It may draw on CBT-informed ideas and other sport psychology approaches. It is not advertised as treatment for psychiatric disorders. If your needs fall outside the service’s scope, I can discuss more suitable support.
Is this confidential?
Your information is treated confidentially within professional, safeguarding and legal limits. The main exceptions concern serious risk of self-harm or harm to someone else, alongside other safeguarding and legal duties. Relevant information may be discussed in professional supervision. Read my confidentiality information before booking.
What happens if I need urgent mental health support?
KANNECT is not an emergency or crisis service. For immediate danger, contact emergency services. In the UK, contact NHS 111, your GP or an appropriate crisis support service for urgent support. Outside the UK, contact local urgent support services. Do not wait for a session or a reply from me.
Do I need to enter payment information?
No. No credit card or other payment information is required for the free project session.
Can I cancel or reschedule?
Use the cancellation or rescheduling options in your booking messages, where available, or email me. Please let me know if you cannot attend. See the Terms and Conditions for project arrangements.
Will our meeting be recorded?
No, I do not record meetings as standard. You can request a recording for your own use, and we would discuss and agree it beforehand. I will not record our meeting without your permission.
Bring your question.
Let’s make a start.
